MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE SULPHUR NORTH OKLAHOMA 7.5 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE SITE IS ON ROCK CREEK AT SANDY BEACH APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET UPSTREAM FROM WHERE TRAVERTINE CREEK ENTERS ROCK CREEK. SAMPLING FOR THIS SITE WAS DONE FROM JUNE 1976 THROUGH JULY 1977 IN AN EFFORT TO IDENTIFY POSSIBLE SOURCES OF POLLUTION. THE SAMPLES WERE ANALYZED FOR PHYSICAL; CHEMICAL; AND BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES. THE STUDY WAS FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE; AND THE RESULTS WERE PUBLISHED IN THE 1977 REPORT "WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT STUDY FOR CHICKASAW NATIONAL RECREATION AREA" BY LEALE E. STREEBIN AND JAMES F. HARP. FOR INFORMATION ON CHICKASAW NATIONAL RECREATION AREA CONTACT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AT CHICKASAW NRA P.O. BOX 201 SULPHUR OK 73086. TEL (405) 6223165.
