MonitoringLocationDescriptionText The Historic Masonry Well Middle is located along the southern flank of Chaco Wash about 500 feet downstream of the bridge near the Chaco Culture National Historic Park visitor center. The middle of three wells was sampled and purged using a bladder pump. The middle well has a total well depth of about 35 feet. Water level measurements were made on these days to the top of casing: 04/13/05 23.9 ft, 08/17/05 25.6 ft, and 12/05/05 25.6 ft. This well is found in a shallow aquifer below Chaco Wash. The aquifer supports a riparian plant community, stabilizing streambanks and providing habitat for wildlife.
