THE SITE IS AT SWAMP CANYON BELOW WHITEMAN CONNECTING TRAIL AND IS LOCATED INSIDE THE BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK BOUNDARY. THE SAMPLES WERE TAKEN BELOW THE CAMPSITE WHERE THE STREAM CROSSES THE UNDERTHERIM TRAIL. DATA ARE FROM "A WATER QUALITY SURVEY OF THE BACKCOUNTRY IN BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK" BY R. STEVEN NAKASHIMA (AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST); A PARK VOLUNTEER IN THE SUMMER OF 1981. THE STUDY OBJECTIVE WAS TO "DETERMINE THE BACTERIAL QUALITY OF MAJOR BACKCOUNTRY WATER SOURCES."
