MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Alamo Spring Grazing Exclosure is at the upper portion of Alamo Canyon near the boundary of Bandelier National Monument. There are numerous springs in the area, but water samples were collected from a prominent spring with rocks built around it so water could pool. Water samples were pumped directly from the pooled spring water. Wildlife use this spring as a water source and water samples provide information about the waterquality. Primary concerns are related to effects of grazing by elk or cattle on water quality. There are also concerns about contaminants in perched aquifers, visitor impacts, adjacent land management, and atmospheric deposition.
