THE SITE IS ON AN UNNAMED PERENNIAL STREAM ON THE NORTH END OF OAK ISLAND APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET UPSTREAM FROM LAKE SUPERIOR. SAMPLES FOR THIS SITE WERE COLLECTED FROM MID MAY TO SEPTEMBER OF 1986. SAMPLES WERE ANALYZED FOR TEMPERATURE; PH; CONDUCTIVITY; AND ALKALINITY. THE RESULTS ARE IN "WATER RESOURCES OF THE APOSTLE ISLANDS NATIONAL LAKESHORE 19861988" BY MARY BALCER AND DENNIS MCCAULEY WITH THE CENTER FOR LAKE SUPERIOR ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES; UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSINSUPERIOR (MARCH 1989).
