STATION #8 IS AT STOCKTON ISLAND AT A STREAM AND IS LOCATED INSIDE APOSTLE ISLAND NATIONAL LAKESHORE BOUNDARIES. THE VELOCITY WAS TOO SLOW TO MEASURE AT THE SITE ON 8/8/80 BECAUSE OF BACKWATER FROM LAKE SUPERIOR. DATA ARE FROM THE USGS WATER RESOURCES INVESTIGATIONS REPORT 874220; "WATER RESOURCES OF THE APOSTLE ISLANDS NATIONAL LAKESHORE; NORTHERN WISCONSIN" BY W.J. ROSE (1988). THE OBJECTIVE OF THE REPORT IS "TO PROVIDE A QUALITATIVE DESCRIPTION OF SELECTED HYDROLOGIC COMPONENTS OF THE LAKESHORE" FOR 19791984 WATER YEARS. LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE COORDINATE VALUES WERE OBTAINED BY DIGITIZING A POINT ON THE QUADRANGLE MAP USING FIGURE 3 IN THE REPORT.
