| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | The monitoring station is located on the Agate NebraskaSioux County 7.5 minute series (topographic) quadrangle. The Niobrara River was sampled prior to the creation of Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. The sample site is inside the current monument boundary. Data are from a study by Phillip Emery (1966); "Reconnaissance Survey of the Geology and GroundWater Resources of the Proposed Agate Fossil National Monument." The study includes data from several wells surrounding the monument. The station is at the same location as a USGS gaging station (06454100).
