THE STATION IS ON THE NIOBRARA RIVER INSIDE THE AGATE FOSSIL BEDS NATIONAL MONUMENT. THIS SITE WAS ACTIVE FROM JUNE 1988 TO FEBRUARY 1989 AND WAS 25 METERS WEST OF THE ROAD LEADING TO THE RANGER RESIDENCE. THE RIVER WAS SAMPLED AS PART OF A STUDY ON MACROINVERTEBRATES. THE STUDY; BY BORIS KONDRATIEFF; MEASURED NITRATES; PHOSPHATES; PH; AND OTHER PARAMETERS. THE STUDY; "MACROINVERTEBRATE ASSEMBLAGES AND WATER QUALITY IN SIX NATIONAL PARK UNITS IN THE GREAT PLAINS;" WAS SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE.
