MonitoringLocationDescriptionText IF THE TIDE IS LOW ENOUGH, SAMPLES OF POND WATER CAN BE COLLECTED DISCHARGING THROUGH THE TIDE GATES ON THE DOWNSTREAM SIDE (EASIER [DOWNSTREAM] ACCESS ON THE SOUTH AND WEST SIDE OF THE TIDE GATE). IF THE TIDE IS TOO HIGH TO ALLOW DIRECT SAMPLING FROM THE TIDE GATES, COLLECT SAMPLE FROM THE POND, ON THE UPSTREAM SIDE OF TIDE GATE (EASIER ACCESS ON SOUTH AND WEST SIDE). SAMPLING ON THE POND SIDE IS PREFERABLE, AND SOMETIMES REQUIRED FOR SPECIFIC SAMPLING PROJECTS, BUT THAT RIVER-SIDE SAMPLING IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY AND ACCEPTABLE.
