MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Rito de los Frijoles at the HQ gaging station is a former USGS gaging station, now operated by NPS along the Rito de los Frijoles which flows from northwest to southeast (12.6 miles) through Bandelier National Monument and into the Rio Grande. Water samples were collected about 50 feet upstream of the USGS gaging station Wildlife and backpackers use this stream as a water source and water samples provide information about the waterquality. There are also concerns about contaminants in perched aquifers, visitor impacts, fire effects, native fishreintroduction, adjacent land management, and atmospheric deposition.
